Demon Warp Face Test

Ahhh, the demon warp, isn't it nice! I watched this tutorial 6 or 7 times through, then started filming. I filmed a friend of mine, Clay behind his house in a brick-outlined parking lot. The first time I filmed him he moved his body too much for me to track. Most of the tutorial is Motion tracking, but it's 2-D, not 3-D, so the actor needs to keep his body at least aligned with the camera, and not have too much motion from the neck or head. I will definitely take this experiment further.

  1. Next time try making it so that just his face turns black with texture, and maybe even warping the features a little.

  2. I'm not sure that I can actually see any aspects of this tutorial in your project. You changed the comp to grey scale, and put a texture behind the dudes face. The only tracking I can tell that might be present is perhaps a masking following the face. If that is the case, I might also make the texture track his face to make it look like it is part.

  3. You did this effect well, and made the masks and texture follow his face successfully. My only suggestion is that the background should not turn black and white when he transforms into the demon because it emphasizes the fact that you are using an effect.

  4. I know you were having trouble with this. But the look turned out pretty freaky. If he could fade into the demon look it would work a lot better but you prolly know that.
